Summary:
AGENDA 2: MASTERS OF DECEIT shows filmmaker, father and husband Curtis Bowers after the success of his 2010 documentary AGENDA, re-examining the Marxist ideology undergirding the leftist ideas dominating the social and political landscape in America. Not as good as the first movie, AGENDA 2 lacks the quality and insight needed to make it a fully engrossing documentary, but the movie’s Christian, moral, patriotic message is important and includes no objectionable content.
Review:
Right after the success of his 2010 documentary AGENDA, filmmaker, father and husband Curtis Bowers re-examines the Marxist ideology undergirding most of the leftist ideas dominating the social and political conversation in America in the follow up documentary AGENDA 2: MASTERS OF DECEIT.
Bowers begins by explaining the impact the first AGENDA movie had, by not only winning the largest cash prize for a Christian Film Festival, but also in the thousands of screenings that took place all over the country on its tour. At one of these screenings, Bowers explains that an audience member stood up to congratulate him on his well-researched documentary. The man in the audience, a professor, then went on to proclaim that he himself is a communist, and that they will win because they have the minds of their children. The man then abruptly leaves the room.
Bowers, understanding that the fight for American and Christian liberty is only just beginning, sets to look at several key institutions the Marxists and socialists have high-jacked. Through the subversion of issues like healthcare, education, environmental threats, and religious extremism, the left has systematically convinced the public that the answer for such issues doesn’t rest with the free people, but with the State. This Marx-inspired collectivism has undermined the values and threatened the very liberty that America’s Founding Fathers sacrificed everything to establish the United States.
AGENDA 2: MASTERS OF DECEIT races through many issues and feels underdeveloped. With no real structure or narrative, and even poorly chosen fonts for the motion graphic text, it isn’t close to the masterpiece that the first was. While the issues and threats it presents are portrayed accurately, AGENDA 2 is more of a PSA for the upcoming 2016 election than a fresh and insightful documentary.
That said, AGENDA 2 and especially AGENDA are important viewing for all Christians who are concerned for the future of their children and grandchildren. The solution is simple. The church of Jesus Christ needs arm themselves with the Gospel and a biblical worldview and take every thought captive for Him. Some discussions of past regimes and stock footage deal with heavy subject matter, but nothing is ever graphic. AGENDA 2 also has a strong Christian, moral, patriotic worldview. So, it’s acceptable for all ages.
