One of the most critical issues facing humanity in the 21st century is the theological compromise that is oozing out of modern day Christianity, as the church continues to abandon the Bible as the final authority for life and faith.

We have seen many leaders in a wide variety of denominations give in to the spirit of fear, terrified that if they don’t capitulate to the masses on issues like homosexuality, transgenderism, or feminism, they will be viewed as irrelevant, that they will not receive the applause of men.

Sadly, that trend continues as a recent decision was reached by the U.S. Episcopal Diocese regarding the use of masculine pronouns in reference to God.

LifeSiteNews is reporting:

The Episcopal church in the Diocese of Washington, D.C., passed a resolution last week to stop using masculine pronouns for God in future updates to its Book of Common Prayer.

The resolution to stop using “gendered language for God” was passed quickly by delegates to the Diocese’s 123rd Convention.

“If revision of the Book of Common Prayer is authorized, to utilize expansive language for God from the rich sources of feminine, masculine, and non-binary imagery for God found in Scripture and tradition and, when possible, to avoid the use of gendered pronouns for God,” the resolution stated.

“Over the centuries our language and our understanding of God has continued to change and adapt,” the drafters of the resolution stated. The drafters said that referring to God using masculine pronouns is to “limit our understanding of God.”

“By expanding our language for God, we will expand our image of God and the nature of God,” they stated.

A member of the Episcopalian clergy, Linda R. Calkins from Laytonsville, Maryland wants to see the delegates go even further than this.

She mentions a statement from Genesis 17 where God speaks with Abraham saying He is “El Shaddai,” which she says means “God with Breasts.”

However, Jesus, God in the flesh, often referred to God as His Father, not His Mother, which is indicative of the kind of relationship He shared with God, which is similar to our own in many respects.

Many of the earliest believers referred to God as Father also, meaning it’s always been so, right back to Jesus and before. This means this is the way God wants to be addressed by us, so why go against Scripture and church history?

This is nothing more than a deep desire to be seen as “woke,” modern, and hip. The Episcopalian church has made it clear that it’s concern is not about living holy lives pleasing to God or to preach the gospel that souls might be saved. It’s about looking good in front of men so as to get their applause.

It’s tragic to see the truth abandoned for something so insignificant.
